The Royal Marines Band Service is the musical wing of the Royal Navy and an independent element of the Royal Marines. It currently consists of five bands plus a training wing – the Royal Marines School of Music at HMS Nelson – and its headquarters is at HMS Excellent, Whale Island, Portsmouth.

Musicians and buglers normally join the Royal Marines School of Music at age 16+, and, after the initial 15 weeks of military training, start specialist qualification study. Training for all musicians and buglers, both male and female, takes place at the School based in Portsmouth.

You do a watered down phase 1 at CTC and then go off to your music courses for however long it takes. There's a documentary on YouTube about it.
