Walk Bangor to Holywood on the North Down Coastal Path (NI). Incl. Brompton, Stricklands Glen, Carnalea, Crawfordsburn, Helen's Bay and Cultra

Apr 21, 2013 · The Coastal Path and railway line finish their game of hide and seek as the outskirts of Bangor are reached at Carnalea Golf Club. Leaving sandy beaches behind for more rocky shores, the path twists and undulates towards Smelt Mill Bay, naturally regulating any speeding wheels*.

Jan 10, 2018 · An even shorter alternative is to start at the car park (or the nearby Bangor West Station) at Stricklands Glen and join the coast path at Smelt Mill bay. Starting from Carnalea station exit North towards the sea and turn immediately left (no signs here).

North Down Coastal Path extends from Holywood in the west to Orlock in the east. The path passes through coastline and parkland. Historic relics and flora and fauna are found in abundance, including the grey seals which can be spotted offshore.

Oct 8, 2022 · Route follows the north down coastal route past pickie pool complex to Bangor Pier, and the on to Wolsey’s bar & Restaurant High Street Bangor for 13.00 Walkers can either return home from Bangor train station or carry on to the starting point, Carnalea train station.

The North Down Coastal Path extends for some 16 miles between Holywood and Orlock in north County Down. Although it has always been possible to walk the entire route along the shoreline, prior to 1970 much of the area was still in private ownership.
