The Dallas-Fort Worth area and other parts of Texas are under a winter storm watch as North Texas braces for the arrival of snow and wintry mix. The National Weather Service issued the watch through at least 6 p.

Forecasters are closely monitoring the potential for another high-impact winter storm that’s expected to blast across the U.S. this week, just days after the first major winter storm of 2025 comes to an end.

The Fort Worth Transportation and Public Works Department is already in prep and pretreatment mode. Huge amounts of sand are getting loaded up and ready.

The first few days of the extreme cold will at least offer sunny skies, but the chance of wintery mix —a mixture of snow, rain, sleet and freezing rain —

Fort Worth says the city and non-profits have strong relationships, but people should start planning now for winter weather. They urge homeowners to check pipes to make sure they’re insulated, disconnect hoses and cover the spigot.
