ABOARD AIR FORCE ONE/ WASHINGTON, Feb 19 (Reuters) - U.S. President Donald Trump said on Wednesday he was not happy with planemaker Boeing BA.N and his administration might have to go a different route with Air Force One planes.

WEST PALM BEACH, Florida (Reuters) -The Air Force One program may be further delayed until 2029 or years later, a senior administration official said, citing supply chain issues and changing requirements, after the White House said the project failed to deliver a new plane on time over the weekend.

President Donald Trump says he is considering buying used Boeing aircraft — perhaps from an overseas seller — to use as Air Force One when he’s aboard, as he fumes over the U.S. plane-maker’s delays in producing two specially modified ones for presidential use.

Among the ways being discussed to force faster delivery of two presidential planes are relaxing security clearances for Boeing workers and even purchasing a temporary luxury plane and retrofitting it.

Boeing has had six years of production problems, safety issues, delivery delays and unhappy buyers of its aircraft. But President Donald Trump’s anger at the delays for the next generation of Air Force One jets could result in a huge blow to what remains of the company’s prestige and finances going forward.

Boeing CEO Kelly Ortberg on Thursday said Elon Musk, the head of its space business rival SpaceX, is "helping us a lot" in navigating through delays in delivering Boeing's Air Force One presidential jet.
