Microsoft shareholders turned down a proposal calling on the company to consider diversifying its investments by including Bitcoin in the mix, but the company was actually more open-minded than it might seem.

Microsoft shareholders rejected a proposal that would've tasked the company's board of directors with considering investments in bitcoin as a means of diversifying its portfolio.

MicroStrategy CEO Michael Saylor had pitched Microsoft's board on investing in bitcoin. Investors voted against the proposal on Thursday.
