Democratic state attorneys general on Thursday filed a lawsuit challenging U.S. President Donald Trump's executive order that compels voters to prove they are U.S. citizens and bars states from counting mail-in ballots received after Election Day.

Connecticut is one of 19 states that filed suit Thursday in U.S. District Court in Boston challenging an executive order prompted at least in part by the president’s discredited claim that foreign migrants were recruited to illegally vote in U.

The lawsuit argued Trump overstepped constitutional bounds when he issued an executive order on voter ID requirements and reforming mail-in voting systems.
