The U.S. is part of several significant alliances and while we are capable of defending ourselves, there are times when we rely on allies for help.

NATO members ... Iraq and Afghanistan, America's NATO allies cumulatively lost well over 1,000 troops in combat over a 20 year period. Britain alone lost 642 members of its armed forces.
