On some streets, newly erected flags bearing the iconic maple leaf hang from houses. On others, signs reading "Happy Canada Day" have been pulled out of storage and planted on snowbanks.

"We're so proud to be part of this great country that we're happy to show that ... before" this Saturday on Flag Day. "We are standing strong with the people of Canada," Fritz said.
