Lebanon’s Health Ministry and state media say Israeli forces have carried out several new drone and artillery strikes in southern Lebanon, killing a shepherd.

Israel’s defense minister warned that if the shaky ceasefire with Hezbollah collapses, Israel will widen its strikes and target the Lebanese state itself. He spoke the day after Israel carried out a wave of airstrikes that killed nearly a dozen people.

President Joe Biden announced Tuesday that Israel and Lebanon have agreed to a deal brokered by the U.S. "to end the devastating conflict between Israel and Hezbollah."

Axios reported that the Biden administration has been concerned that the ceasefire in Lebanon could unravel after Israel and Hezbollah exchanged fire in recent days, according to US officials.

Hezbollah fired into a disputed border zone held by Israel on Monday, the militant group’s first attack since its ceasefire with Israel took hold last week, after Lebanon accused Israel of violating the truce more than 50 times in recent days.
