The Americans had arguably the best world championships in their long and distinguished figure skating history, and now they are pointing toward next season and the Olympics.

For the first time since this global skaters’ waltz began in 1896, the US squad won three gold medals. Ilia Malinin, the “Quad God,” retained his men’s title with half a dozen quadruple jumps, including his signature Axel.

Prior to Russia's ban from international figure skating, the Russians had won more medals at the world championships than any other country.
