Absolutely disappointing performance in Hong Kong! We attended a performance by Bamberg Philharmonic (May 23) which played the same Dvorak Symphony no 9. The performance by NYP was clearly, bad! Full review by LCL1132

The photo on the Philharmonics webpage under Concert & Tickets says it all. Yes, it is very crowded. Many people get there 3 hours early and bring their lawn chairs, blankets, picnic baskets (with wine). Even if you get there an hour before, you'll find a spot somewhere albeit in the back. You'll still be able to hear the orchestra (as long as it's not an exceptionally windy night.) Personally, I don't need to see the orchestra as long as I can hear them well. The sound system is very good. The nicest thing about this event is the people. Even though it's free, it attracts a nice, polite crowd. I highly recommend going for the experience. Nothing beats sitting under the stars on a beautiful night in Central Park listening to one of the world's greatest orchestras.
