Unmissable drive seeing the beautiful landscapes and medieval artefacts. We were driving a campervan. A confident and experienced driver would be needed in anything larger than a car as roads are win…Full review by Belinda K

So in my humble opinion, I liked this scenic drive better than the Ring of Kerry! Both are beautiful, I just found the scenery better and more places to stop to see and scenic viewpoints. It also w…Full review by lauries614

We’ve taken this drive both in a tour bus the first time, and then we drove ourselves the next time we visited. It was much more enjoyable for us when we drove ourselves. It’s a narrow road so you won’t be driving too fast. If you’re not comfortable about driving in the left, then designate one of your travel companions to always remind you to stay on the left. There are plenty of places to stop on the drive to take in the views or to let cars behind you pass (if you feel you’re driving too slow). We had a guide book that marked many of the sights and we don’t think we missed anything doing it on our own. Both times we went in July and August, it was pouring raining and it was still an enjoyable drive. The actual drive isn’t all that long but we stretched it out for hours because we stopped or slowed down so often.

Certainly, as long as you're not making stops along the way. Depending on the time of year, you may want to go straight to the ferry and then after the island drive the Slea Head. Plus, if you have time there is a fabulous Blasket Museum we went to the day before that really enhanced our visit to the island.

We drove with the busses. We left a bit ahead of them around 8:30 they did catch up because we pulled over a lot. It is nice to get behind one occasionally because the roads are narrow and they clear the way since cars have to yield to busses also you’ll be on the water side for this wonderful drive.

We stopped near Ventry at the Relics of 1845 Famine and then the Prehistoric Beehive Hut Fahan Group. Great sea views, cool buildings and grazing animals add to the experience. Head to the Great Blasket Centre. It is a beautiful building with wonderful views of the islands. There is a nice cafeteria there. Drive it on a nice day and pull over often to take it all in.
Q:
Does anyone know how far this is from center of Dingle? Miles and time? It looks like about 7-8 miles?
A:
It is basically a big loop leaving from and returning to Dingle. You need to give yourself a minimum of 4-5 hours to do it justice.
