The island is rugged and disembarking from the boat tricky — no real pier. I would wait until the kids are older — 7 or 8 at least.

The word "easy" is relative! I don't have the best of balance and the sea was relatively calm where the stairs are so it was easy. There was someone was ahead of me to take my hand as I stepped off the boat and someone behind me for reassurance in case I missed my step. The only place I was a wee bit shaky was coming down the steps to the boat as there is no banister :)
