This site is self-guided so you can spend as much or as little time as you'd like, but half an hour was plenty for my family. Great stop on a Lincoln Tour. Beautiful interior with a rich history.Full review by sydsel

Guided tours during the summer are posted based upon the day and what events are going on. There is usually a guided tour roughly every hour during the summer. During the off season, guided tours are available all day long. Self guided is available at any time it is open. Ask a guide for a tour and they are more than willing to provide one. There is no entry to visit the Old State Capitol but a donation is suggested.

I think the times may vary according to the day of the week. We were there on Friday afternoon. Grant and his staff spoke about 2:00 and Lincoln about 4:00. Building closes at 5:00. Googling "Springfield Lincoln Daily schedule" will probably tell the days and times as there are billboards throughout town which show the schedule on a weekly basis.

You need to look up the "History Comes Alive" Schedule - (I can not include the web address) We were there for one of the performances and it was wonderful! You should really try to see one. We saw General Longstreet. He was very knowledgeable and my six year old found him wonderful.
