I visited the Tower museum in 2010. I believe I saw that a John Weir was one of the first 2 Presbyterian clergymen to be sent to America. Am I correct? What year was that? Do you know where he settled? I believe he is an ancestor of mine. Thank you, Judy Cornell

Hi Judy regarding your question regarding Presbyterianism. The following is my understanding of the matter The first one to take Presbyterianism to the USA I believe was in fact a Rev McKimbsey/McKimsley in the 1750s. He was from the town of Ramelton in Co Donegal. John weir was the first to bring it to Ireland. The religion I understand to have originated in of all places Geneva under a Rev Calvin although I have no date for that. Perhaps this may be of some use in helping you further you enquiry.
