India Today on MSNNFL: T.J. Watt's Steelers future in question as contract nears endThe Pittsburgh Steelers have built their legacy on a dominant defense, and T.J. Watt has been the face of that tradition. But as a pivotal season approaches, uncertainty looms.
For all intents and purposes, J.J. Watt was one of the greatest defensive players the NFL has ever seen.
The Pittsburgh Steelers’ contract talks with T.J. Watt appear to be going the wrong way. After Watt’s cryptic social media post on Wednesday that had him giving the ‘peace sign’, speculation ramped up about Watt and what it could mean for his future in Pittsburgh.
Watt enters the final year of a contract that had a value of $28 million per year in new money. He'll make $21.05 million in 2025. And the Steelers have yet to take care of him, opting instead to sign a stranger to the organization, receiver DK Metcalf, to a five-year, $150 million deal.
In retirement, JJ Watt has had time to catch up with TV series, such as The White Lotus. We will have to wait and see if he shares any more thoughts on the HBO series. The White Lotus Season 3 concluded on Sunday, April 6, 2025, with its finale. The third season of the hit show debuted on February 16, 2025.
