With Richie Palacios returning to the injured list, the Rays have decided to give 24-year-old outfielder Chandler Simpson his first taste of big league action.

In three minor league seasons, Simpson has 214 stolen bases in 250 games. He is ranked among the Rays' top 10 prospects.
