Pittsburgh Penguins superstar Sidney Crosby was honored in his first home game after surpassing Wayne Gretzky’s record.

Crosby has won three Stanley Cups in Pittsburgh, but it's hard to envision a fourth title coming at the end of this season with the Penguins (30–34–11) clearly outside of playoff contention, six points outside the wild-card places with two more games played.

The Penguins have faced numerous challenges over the past few years – some regrettable trades and dwindling attendance. They’re on the verge of missing the playoffs for the third consecutive season, following a remarkable streak of 16 straight postseason appearances from 2007 to 2022.
