Wisconsin men's basketball officially opens its 2024-25 regular season on Monday night against Holy Cross at the Kohl Center.

Holy Cross was unconscious, shooting the ball at an 82% clip to start the game. Now, that kind of shooting isn't sustainable, but the Badgers weren't doing themselves any favors, starting just 1-10 from three to start the game and just 25% from the field.

Wisconsin sophomore forward Nolan Winter flashed his offensive brilliance in the Badgers’ 85-61 win over Holy Cross on Monday. In just over 20 minutes, the second-year Badger registered a career-high 15 points and snared eight rebounds in the 24-point victory at the Kohl Center.

The Badgers and the Kohl Center crowd were stunned after the Crusaders came out shooting lights out. At one point, Holy Cross was shooting an astounding 82% from the floor while the Badgers were only hitting 25% of their shots. Wisconsin quickly found themselves down 15 points.

The matchup is a light start to what will soon become a gauntlet nonconference schedule. Holy Cross enters the 2024-25 season after 10-23, 10-22 and 9-22 records over the last three seasons, respectively. KenPom ranks the Crusaders as the No. 343 team in the nation, and as the 10th-best team of 11 in the Patriot League.

After trailing at the half against the visiting Holy Cross Crusaders, the Wisconsin Badgers dominated the second half, pulling away to win 85-61.
