Gibson was fatally shot in the chest around 11:19 p.m. while inside her home on the corner of the 300 block of Hummel Street, next to Swatara Street. Police said someone shooting from the street killed Gibson. She was not believed to be the intended target.

According to the Harrisburg Bureau of Police, an adult male victim suffering from a non-life-threatening gunshot wound to his lower extremities was discovered at the scene.
