AD-70, an Orange County-only district, covers the cities of Fountain Valley, Garden Grove, Los Alamitos, Midway City, Rossmoor, Stanton and Westminster. The district encompasses Little Saigon in northwestern Orange County, home to the largest Vietnamese population outside of Vietnam.

For Holstege, a Palm Springs city councilmember, the race is a chance to avenge her loss by 85 votes to Wallis out of more than 169,000 votes cast in 2022. It was California’s closest Assembly contest since 1900, according to an official with the California State Library.

Assemblymember Sharon Quirk-Silva surged to an early lead in the 67th Assembly district race ahead of Republican Beth Culver, according to a tally of mail-in ballots and initial results from in-person voting announced by the secretary of state at 11:50 p.m.

All 80 seats in the California Assembly are up for grabs in the 2024 general election. In the State Senate, voters will choose candidates in 20 districts.
