Schools, offices and businesses in the Baton Rouge area are starting to announce closures as Louisiana is gearing up for extremely cold weather and the potential for winter weather early next week.

As freezing temperatures impact southeast Louisiana, some Baton Rouge-area schools are closing campuses or moving to virtual classes. The following schools have closings and alternative plans for Tuesday as a result of the expected wintry weather. School officials can email [email protected] if you have a closure to announce.

All state offices will be closed on Tuesday "due to extreme winter weather," according to a social media post on Friday from Louisiana State Civil Service, the agency that acts as the human resources department for state employees.
