Tesla CEO Elon Musk is supporting the conservative candidate in the race to fill a seat on the Wisconsin Supreme Court, which could ultimately decide a Tesla lawsuit.

The race for an open seat in Wisconsin's Supreme Court is drawing the attention of large donors, including President Donald Trump's adviser Elon Musk and Democratic Party donor George Soros.

A race for an open seat on Wisconsin's top court will be an early test of the Trump administration's popularity in a political swing state, with more than $17 million spent by groups tied to Elon Musk helping shatter election spending records.

As the billionaire and his allied groups pour more than $20 million into a race for the state’s top court, his car company is suing Wisconsin over a law restricting vehicle sales.

"When Elon Musk started interfering with global politics, I started getting uncomfortable with that and I didn't want to be associated with his brand," says former Tesla car owner Jonathan Coupland.
