BOSTON -- Social media was quickly abuzz after Canada defeated the United States 3-2 in overtime to win the 4 Nations Face-Off championship at TD Garden on Thursday. And one of the first photos to go viral was of Nathan MacKinnon and Connor McDavid hugging one another after the epic win.

Despite dropping the round-robin contest to Team USA, Team Canada got their revenge in the 4 Nations Face-Off championship game with a thrilling overtime win. Edmonton Oilers superstar forward Connor McDavid sealed the deal in OT,

MacKinnon, along with Cale Makar and Devon Toews, had the opportunity to play for Canada in a best-on-best men’s tournament for the first time at the 2025 4 Nations Face-Off. He had the chance to play with his childhood idol-turned-friend Sidney Crosby in games that matter for the first time. He also didn’t let down 8-year-old Nathan MacKinnon.
