In Tennessee, NPR member station WPLN is covering the devastation caused by the storm across the state, which remains in a state of emergency. At least six people have died in Tennessee, Missouri and Indiana as a result of these violent storms, according to The Associated Press.

Arkansas, Missouri, Tennessee and Mississippi faced the threat of a "generational flood event" with some locations forecast to see as much as 15 inches (38 cm) of rain by the weekend, which could cause rivers to burst their banks.
