TURIN (Reuters) -Italian world number one Jannik Sinner eased past Daniil Medvedev 6-3 6-4 in their final group match on Thursday, leaving Taylor Fritz to seal a place in the semi-finals of the season-ending ATP Finals after the American defeated Alex de Minaur 5-7 6-4 6-3.

Jannik Sinner capped a perfect group stage at the ATP Finals with a 6-3, 6-4 win over Daniil Medvedev on Thursday which eliminated his Russian rival.

Jannik Sinner followed up his victories over Alex de Minaur and Taylor Fritz by beating Daniil Medvedev at the ATP Finals on Thursday.

Taylor Fritz, the U.S. Open finalist who lost to Sinner in New York, was also drawn in the Italian’s group alongside Australian Alex De Minaur, making his ATP Tour Finals debut; Casper Ruud and Andrey Rublev, who qualified as world No. 9 after Novak Djokovic withdrew, rounded out the second group.

Jannik Sinner became the first player to reach the semifinals at the ATP Finals after Taylor Fritz defeated Alex de Minaur. Sinner, who faces Daniil Medvedev next, has already secured his place in the last four.
