Luka Dončić, by all accounts, planned to sign a five-year, supermax extension with the Dallas Mavericks this offseason. Those plans were scuttled when the Mavericks traded him to the Los Angeles Lakers in February.

Embattled Dallas Mavericks general manager Nico Harrison made a damning admission on the Luka Dončić trade. “I did know that Luka was important to the fan base,” Harrison told reporters on Monday, April 21, during his end-of-the-season press conference. “I didn’t quite know to what level.”

The Los Angeles Lakers lost to the Minnesota Timberwolves in five games, but it means very little when Luka Dončić has many years of stardom in front of him.
