Pacers wing Bennedict Mathurin was ejected from Tuesday game against the Cavaliers for his actions toward an official
The incident occurred late in the fourth quarter when Mathurin made a layup and the Cavaliers quickly took off the other way. Mathurin sprinted back in transition and was called for a foul on Evan Mobley. It appeared to be an obvious foul, but Mathurin thought otherwise. He immediately put his arms out in the air and started to complain to Sago.
Indiana Pacers guard Bennedict Mathurin disagreed with a foul call late in his team's 127-117 loss to the Cleveland Cavaliers on Wednesday, January 15, and he let official Natalie Sago know about it.
Backcourt mates Donovan Mitchell and Darius Garland combined for 59 points and Mobley notched a 22-13 double-double. Pascal Siakam countered with a productive showing– 23 points, seven boards and four assists– but the Pacers could not make a full recovery in this one.
Maturity has been a focus for Mathurin in his third year with the Pacers. It's a quality his teammates have praised him for. That maturity appeared in some moments in Tuesday's 127-117 loss, like a swift block that spurred a Ben Sheppard 3-pointer in the third and being quick to defend out of transition.
