SportsLine's model just revealed its college basketball picks for the Purdue Boilermakers vs. Illinois Fighting Illini on Friday night
Like Illinois, Purdue is riding a modest two-game winning streak after four straight losses. This past Tuesday they routed Rutgers 100-71 scoring 50 points in each half against the Scarlet Knights. Braden Smith and Fletcher Loyer each scored 23 points in the win. Purdue is 5-5 on the road while Illinois is 12-4 at home.
Illinois (20-11, 12-8 Big Ten) trailed 63-53 with 11:34 to go, but outscored the Boilermakers 13-1 in the final two minutes to win its third in a row after losing three straight.
Not the final two minutes. The Boilermakers want some of those possessions back. Illinois concluded its 88-80 victory on a 13-1 run. Add it to the other potentially big victories -- too many of them -- which wound up as near misses over the final month of the regular season.
