The Gulf Coast is digging out from a once-in-a-lifetime snowstorm that struck from Texas to Florida, closing airports and crippling roadways.

LSU men's basketball fell 80-73 to No.4 Alabama but put forth an effort that proved its toughness and that it can play well against anybody.

Aden Holloway scored 19 points as No. 4 Alabama survived a scoreless night from its top scorer for an 80-73 win over LSU on Saturday night.

The third-ranked Alabama Crimson Tide had a fight on their hands Saturday night inside Coleman Coliseum against a scrappy LSU Tigers team that came in as heavy underdogs. Alabama prevailed, 80-73, to improve to 6-1 in SEC play.

An unprecedented snowstorm swept through the US South, blanketing areas in snow levels not seen in decades. Moisture from the Gulf of Mexico, combined with a low-pressure system and cold air, created historic conditions across several states.

The snow is still falling along the Gulf coast, but it’s already considered to be a record breaker. Early reports put the snowfall at Mobile Regional Airport at over six inches and five more in Pensacola.
