The city of Orlando is ending its weeklong curfew after a mass shooting killed two and injured eight during Halloween festivities downtown — but another safety measure is set to kick in soon. According to a statement from the city,

Eight people were shot, two fatally, into a crowd celebrating Halloween in downtown Orlando early Friday and a suspect was in custody, authorities said.

Jaylen Dwayne Edgar, 17, was charged as an adult with two counts of second-degree murder with a firearm and one count of attempted murder with a firearm.

"He had a temper and was just not someone who could be controlled," one of Jaylen Dwayne Edgar's former pals said.

Orlando Police Chief Eric Smith confirmed Friday morning that eight people were shot during Halloween celebrations in downtown Orlando. Smith said two victims died, and six others were taken to a hospital for treatment.
