The Senate on Thursday overwhelmingly cleared a key procedural hurdle toward passing the Laken Riley Act, a bill aimed at curbing crime by migrants, in the first vote of the year by the chamber.

The U.S. Senate is expected to vote on the Laken Riley Act Thursday afternoon and at least one of Georgia’s Senators has confirmed they’ll vote to pass the bill.

The GOP-controlled House voted Tuesday to pass the Laken Riley Act, a bill that prioritizes the arrest of some criminal illegal aliens.
