The price of a Mega Millions ticket is going up from $2 to $5 beginning April 5, the second increase in the lottery’s 28-year history since its debut as The Big Game in 1996.

Mega Millions drawings are held each Tuesday and Friday in 45 states, along with Washington, D.C., and the U.S. Virgin Islands. Saturday’s Powerball jackpot is worth an estimated $515 million with a cash option of $238.4 million.
