India’s star bowler Jasprit Bumrah has been honoured with the prestigious Sir Garfield Sobers Award for men’s cricketer of the year, the International Cricket Council announced at the ICC awards on Tuesday.

Jasprit Bumrah is the fifth recipient of the ICC Cricketer Of The Year award from India, after Rahul Dravid (2004), Sachin Tendulkar (2010), Ravichandran Ashwin (2016) and Virat Kohli (2017, 2018).

Star fast bowler Jasprit Bumraj joined the ranks of legendary Indian cricketers Sachin Tendulkar, Virat Kohli, Rahul Dravid, and Ravichandran Ashwin by winning the prestigious ICC Cricketer of the Year award. On Tuesday, January 28, Bumrah secured the honor for 2024, triumphing over nominees Travis Head, Joe Root, and Harry Brook.

The fast bowler also won the ICC Men’s Test Cricketer of the Year award for 2024. He is the fifth Indian after Dravid, Tendulkar, Ashwin and Kohli to be adjudged the ICC Men’s Cricketer of the Year.

Bumrah played a total of 13 Tests and eight ODIs last year. He secured 71 and 15 wickets, respectively. As a result, Bumrah became only the fifth Indian cricketer to win the aforementioned accolade.
