Hong Kong's post office announced late Thursday it would continue to suspend shipping items containing goods to the United States until further notice, despite its American counterpart having reversed its ban on packages from the city and other parts of China.

The move by USPS on Tuesday to stop accepting parcels from China and Hong Kong had caused chaos and confusion among retailers and express shipping firms over how to deal with U.S. President Donald Trump's new 10% tariff on imports from China.

Move followed US introduction of tariffs on Chinese imports and removal of long-standing duty-exemption rule, but is no longer in effect
