Winter is winding down as the sun sets later each day, but nothing says spring like the day we spring the clocks forward. Under the current daylight saving period, most Americans will lose an hour on the second Sunday of March and gain an hour on the first Sunday of November.

In 2025, Americans will “spring ahead” on Sunday, March 9, marking the end of standard time and the beginning of daylight saving time. At that time, clocks will jump ahead one hour from 2 a.m. to 3 a.m.

Sen. Rick Scott (R-Florida) on Jan. 8 reintroduced legislation to end changing clocks twice a year, calling it "unnecessary" and an "annoyance."

Daylight saving time will start on Sunday, March 9. The “spring forward” changeover officially takes place at 2 a.m., when we move the clocks ahead by one hour, meaning sunrise and sunset will be about one hour later on March 9 than the day before and there will be more light in the evening and less in the morning.

A Republican lawmaker who represents parts of six rural Nevada counties is sponsoring a bill to take the state off daylight saving time — one of the 200 bills written so far.
