Hurricane Rafael continues to spin in the southern Gulf of Mexico. Rafael remains a Category 2 storm after making landfall in western Cuba on Wednesday. As of Thursday morning, Rafael has maximum sustained winds around 105 mph and is moving northwest at 12 mph.
Rafael now in the Gulf as a cat 2 hurricane
According to the National Hurricane Center, Rafael is expected to bring hurricane-force winds along with a dangerous storm surge as it crosses Cuba and moves into the Gulf. Then, as the system moves toward the northern Gulf of Mexico, it is expected to weaken back down to tropical storm force.
