Columbia University has suspended dozens of students and barred alums and others who participated in a pro-Palestinian demonstration inside the school’s main library earlier this week.
New York police intervened after pro-Palestinian demonstrators occupied the university’s main library Wednesday evening.
A faculty rights group at Columbia University condemned the administration for calling the NYPD to gain control over an anti-Israel protest at the campus library.
"Everyone has the right to peacefully protest. But violence, vandalism or destruction of property are completely unacceptable," she wrote. According to Columbia's website, university IDs will be required to access buildings at the Morningside campus Thursday.
