BOSTON - Karen Read's attempt to get some criminal charges against her thrown out on the grounds of double jeopardy came before the highest court in Massachusetts Wednesday.

The latest chapter in the Karen Read saga moves to the state's highest court, where her attorneys Wednesday are hoping to convince judges that several charges related to the death of her Boston police officer boyfriend should be dropped.

The Massachusetts Supreme Judicial Court will hold a hearing on the Karen Read case on Wednesday. The Mansfield woman’s defense team is seeking to have the murder charge dismissed. Read is accused of killing her Boston police officer boyfriend John O’Keefe on a snowy day in January 2022.
