Can you remember the name of tour company you went with? Obviously dont want to use them if your experience was that bad. Quite a few other people loved the tour so just don't want to go through the one you went through

Hi, we are thinking about doing the 5 day Golden Triangle Tour with travelbag, has anyone done this tour? We are also interested in the Elephant Hills experience too. I personally feel that the elephant experience sounds more animal responsible, if that makes sense? We are not interested in riding elephants but would love to see them and support a genuine sanctuary. Any advice gratefully received. TIA Sharon

I haven't done the golden triangle 5 day tour sounds good though if you have the ride guide. The day trip we took from Chiang Rai was good but could have been better with another tour company. Don't book with Boy at the corner just down from the night market. Our guides couldn't speak a word of english and were students so we missed out on alot of information. The sites were great though. I have been to elephant hills it was lovely however you aren't with the elephants very long if that is the entire reason for going. Our first day we went on a short boat tour then they took us by bus to the elephant range. The elephants used to work in the timber industry and now are living a happy retirement. They are all older elephants. They tell you about them and after a bit you go to an area to wash and scrub them. They are quite funny because they know after that they get a snack and they get quite anxious about that. Then you go to the snack area where you chop up some fruit etc and you feed your elephant or the neighbouring one that reaches over LOL. It was fun but pretty organized and only a couple of hours. So IF you are looking for more of an elephant experience there might be others. However the jungle tents and the floating tents were beautiful and the food was outstanding, they even accomodated my gluten free requirements nicely. The whole experience was fabulous and would have loved to stay another day but it wasnt all elephants.
Did you actually go into Laos and Myanmar or did you just get close to view the countries? In Laos I undestand it is an island you visit? How long were you in each country? Was the trip mostly a bus ride or did you travel by minivan or what? Thank you!

The standard " golden triangle tour" takes you to an area filled with people's wanting to get a phone in front of a sign that say golden triangle. With a picture pointing to each country above. It's a river crossing where the points of each country meets. Nothing's happening there but tourist photos. You want to see the real mountain boarders and what not of the golden triangle still operating you'll need to hike for a couple days into the hills. Don't go dec-feb that working session. They don't like strangers in there. I believe it's actually been closed for tourism dec-feb for that reason.
I am interested in the Doi Mae Salong, Mae Sai, Tea Plantation & Golden Triangle day tour and I have sent a couple of emails to try and book this however I am not getting a response. The email I have is the same as the one on TA and their website. Does anyone have any other email for them?
